Unawatuna Beach - Beach in Sri Lanka

Unawatuna beach is located in Southern province of Sri Lanka. It is very close to Galle town (Capital of the Southern Province).

From Colombo it is about 120 km and from Galle it is only about 4 km.

Unawatuna is a very famous beach in Sri Lanka and it is the most famous beach in the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Currently Unawatuna is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Sri Lanka.

Unawatuna is famous due to its location. Because it is very close to the southern province capital and also close to the Colombo with relative to the other famous beaches. Foreigners as well as Locals also come daily to Unawatuna due to its beauty.

By using Southern Expressway tourists can reach Unawatuna within 1.5 hours from Colombo. In addition to that by the Train is also possible. But it will take 2.5-3.5 hours.

Tourists can bathe, swim, and relax in Unawatuna beach. In addition to that tourists can get boat rides. There are lots of unique souvenir shops in Unawatuna. Tourists can buy gems, jewelery, clothes and other nice souvenirs from those shops.

The food and accommodation facilities are also good in Unawatuna. There are lots of restaurants and hotels along the beach. In tourist seasons those hotels are little bit expensive, but tourists can get accommodation in Galle town or nearby as per their budget.

There are several other tourists ’attractions situated close to the Unawatuna such as Galle fort, Jungle Beach, Mirissa beach and Waligama beach.
